BOARD SECRETARY

Jabreyl Thomas.jpg

Jabreyl Thomas

Jabreyl Thomas is a Georgia-based attorney, raised on the east side of Atlanta, whose work lives at the intersection of law, creativity, and community. She currently serves as House Counsel for a national insurer, where she manages civil litigation and advises on liability and risk matters with a focus on clarity and practical resolution.

Before moving in-house, Jabreyl practiced insurance defense at a private firm, where she handled a range of auto-liability cases and developed a deeper understanding of claims strategy, client communication, and risk evaluation.

Jabreyl began her legal career in entertainment law, counseling emerging and platinum-selling artists, producers, and founders on intellectual-property and brand-protection issues across music, media, and digital platforms. That experience deepened her passion for helping people protect their work and navigate complex systems with confidence—a principle that continues to guide her both professionally and personally.

A proud double HBCU alumna, Jabreyl earned her Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law and her B.S. in Economics, magna cum laude, from North Carolina A&T State University. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders and creating pathways for access, discipline, and purpose-driven vision.

Outside of her legal practice, Jabreyl enjoys exploring creative expression and wellness as tools for balanced and intentional living.

“I’m honored to join the Vanguard Leadership Academy Board and to serve an organization

whose mission so closely mirrors my own values. As someone raised in DeKalb County and

shaped by the HBCU experience, I know the power of community, access, and exposure to

change the trajectory of a student’s life.”
