At Vanguard Leadership Academy, our approach to developing youth leaders is rooted in a two-tiered model: the Summer Leadership Intensive (SLI) and the Youth Leadership Ambassador Program (YLAP). These programs are not standalone experiences — they are intentionally interconnected, creating a developmental pipeline that supports students from their first steps in leadership through real-world application and service

Tier 1
Summer Leadership Intensive (SLI)
Entry Point for Transformation
This tier is focused on identity formation, unlocking potential, and helping students envision themselves as leaders. It provides the foundational mindset and skills that students need to grow.
SLI is the launchpad. This immersive summer program introduces students — often for the first time — to structured leadership development.

Tier 2
Youth Leadership Ambassador Program
(YLAP)
Entry Point for Transformation
YLAP deepens the student’s transformation by giving them real responsibility. It shifts the focus from internal development to external impact.
Graduates of SLI are invited into YLAP — a year-round program designed to amplify and apply what they learned in SLI.

Serve as peer mentors to new SLI participants.
